Charles Spurgeon’s Pastors’ College was established in 1856 to train pastors. It is estimated that over 900 men were trained in his lifetime. The lectures collected in this volume were given to aspiring ministers on Friday afternoons. They were first published in 1875 and have been republished multiple times in later editions. These lectures continue to be one of the most valued contributions of all of Surgeon’s works.
This abridged edition was produced to preserve the timeless pastoral instruction, practical theology, and inimitable wisdom and wit, God gave to Spurgeon, which remain immediately practical for the modern pastor. The lectures we have removed are those that have become obsolete or less practically applicable since 1875. We pray this streamlined version of the eternal truths Spurgeon highlighted will be used of the Lord to bless, instruct, correct, and encourage another generation of godly pastors and ministry leaders.
